Getting software
BMSIT should be your first point of contact when you require new software for your machine. We can provide advice and access educacational pricing on software. We also install software and ensure licencing conditions are met.
Administrator Access to Workstations
The default level of staff access to computers is as a standard user (i.e. no administrative access). Temporary administrative access can be arranged with the service desk if required for sound business reasons.
Backup procedure
Biomedical Sciences IT (BMSIT) backs up all file server data to tape. All staff members in supported areas are entitled to space on the file servers. On PCs your server connection is located in "My Computer" as a network drive. We strongly urge all staff to make use of the file servers and are happy to provide any assistance with this. Staff can also have a copy of the data on their workstation mirrored to file server for backup purposes. If you are interested in this service please contact the service desk.
