Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences Information Technology

Video Conferencing

The faculty has a network of 22 Polycom IP based videoconferencing units located within Victoria. The main purpose of these units is to facilitate teaching and learning at our various clinical locations and to provide a convenient and powerful means of communication where it is difficult for staff and students to meet face to face.

Videoconference units

The University has standardised on using Polycom equipment and in the faculty we only have IP based conferencing.

Teaching aids

We use a variety of different teaching aids. The most common requirement is to transmit power-point presentations, which is done with Polycom Visual Concert PC software provided by Polycom. This enables easy PC sharing during the videoconference.
